Talia Folino heads to Worlds

Gymnastics Victoria would like to congratulate Victorian Women’s Artistic Gymnast Talia Folino who has today departed to compete at the Gymnastics World Championships in Montreal, Canada being held from 2-8 October.

Talia, a Waverley Gymnastics Centre gymnast, joins Queenslanders Georgia Godwin and Rianna Mizzen to make up the Australian Women’s Gymnastics team with the individual competition one of the early steps towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Talia’s club coach John Hart will also make the trip to Canada to keep an eye on Talia’s progress.

Speaking to the Leader Community Newspaper from a national training camp in Canberra, Talia said she was excited to take on the challenge ahead.

“It’s a bit nerve-racking and tense at the moment, but we are getting a unique experience. It’s a fresh (Olympic) cycle, a new national team coach, I just really want to gain as much experience as I can,” said Talia.

Also competing for Australia at the 2017 World Championships will be Victorian Tyson Bull who now trains at the University of Illinois in the USA.

Gymnastics Victoria wish good luck to Talia, Tyson and John at the World Championships in Montreal.
