Victorians dominate at Aerobics Nationals
The 2017 Australian Aerobic Championships took place over three exciting days of competition on the weekend with the Victorian Aerobics State Team dominating the medal tally.
The nation’s top Aerobic Gymnasts displayed their talents in Bendigo’s famous Ulumburra Theatre with a mix of competition featuring individual, pair, group and AeroDance routines.
Gymnastics Victoria developed a strong lead on Saturday, taking out a total of seven first place finishes which included gold in Level 3 Junior Individual, Level 4 Junior Multiples, Level 4 Intermediate Individual, Level 4 Senior Individual, Level 4 Senior Multiples and Level 5 Senior Multiples.
On Saturday evening, the Senior International athletes brought a new energy to the venue. In an incredibly close final, Victoria held our unstoppable lead with a further four gold medals headlined by Olivia Feaver being crowned the 2017 Aerobics Senior International Individual Champion.
It was also fantastic to see Ruby Conti-Moore win gold in the National Development Individual section.
On Sunday AeroDance also proved an area where Victorians flourished with gold for Sophie Varis in the Individual Junior Aerodance, as well as gold for Sophie and our Victorian team in the Junior Aerodance Group.
The final medal tally finished as follows:
Victoria – 43 medals
Queensland – 26 Medals
New South Wales – 17 Medals
Western Australia – 11 Medals
South Australia – 6 Medals
