Carolyn Bell - Start Here, Go Anywhere!

Gymnastics Victoria are wishing good luck to our Events Coordinator Carolyn Bell who will be spending the next five weeks working for the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast as the Gymnastics Operations Manager for Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Carolyn started at Gymnastics Victoria as an intern in 2013 and commenced as the Events Officer in February 2014.

In 2016 Carolyn became the Events Coordinator with her role involving coordinating an event from start to finish. This includes booking venues, creating work orders, liaising with co-presentation clubs, liaising with the venues, ordering awards, organising volunteers and coordinating bump in and bump out of events.

Carolyn initially applied and was accepted as a Commonwealth Games volunteer however a phone call last year changed all of that.

“I got a phone call in November last year saying a job had come up as the Gymnastics Operations Manager of Rhythmic Gymnastics and they asked if I was interested,” said Carolyn.

After discussing the role with Gymnastics Victoria Carolyn was happy to accept the position which will involve assisting with the overall competition planning and delivery.  More specifically she will oversee all operational arrangements within the competition venue relating to athletes, team officials, technical officials, international federation representatives, sport workforce and other sport stakeholders.

Carolyn is looking forward to being a part of the Commonwealth Games and what she can learn from the experience.

“I’m really excited for this opportunity. It’s nice to be recognised for my hard work at Gymnastics Victoria,” said Carolyn.

“I’m looking forward to working at an international event. Growing up I loved watching the Commonwealth Games and now I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Carolyn thanks Gymnastics Victoria for making this opportunity available to her and we wish her all the best up on the Gold Coast.
