An outstanding year for a Gymnastics Junior AeroDance Team and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Official Brad Mannix have seen Gymnastics pick up two Victorian Sports Awards.

Victoria’s sporting elite gathered at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 14 March to celebrate and recognise the achievements of 2017 with Gymnastics featuring as a finalist in six award categories.

The Sports Accounting Australia Victorian Official of the Year Award was presented to Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Judge and Technical Director Brad Mannix ahead of a strong field featuring officials from Soccer, Bowls and Swimming.

2017 was a big year for Brad who is a Category 2 Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Judge. Highlights included officiating at the Melbourne World Cup, the Asian Championships in Thailand and at the World Championships in Canada.

Upon receiving the award, Brad was proud to have his contribution to Gymnastics acknowledged.

“It’s great to be recognised, it takes a lot of effort and commitment to get to this level. It’s also great to go up against other sports and win,” said Brad.

The second Gymnastics winner of the evening was the Junior AeroDance Team who were awarded the Swisse Victorian Young Team of the Year ahead of teams from Tennis, Netball and Lacrosse.

The Junior AeroDance Team features six 13 year olds – Ruby Conti-Moore, Celeste Crivelli, Brooke Hay, Lucy Morrissy, Milla Richardson and Sophie Varis – and their Lion King AeroDance routine won in every level of competition it was featured in across State, National and International competition.

The AeroDance team were overjoyed as they accepted their award with four team members present at the Awards ceremony and the other two on school camp.
