Gymnastics Victoria are proud of having so many committed coaches, judges, volunteers and administrators across the State. We will be featuring Hero of the Month profiles – you can nominate a coach, judge, volunteer or administrator to be featured by clicking here.
Tim is now in his 22 year at Highett Youth Club. He started as a young boy in the recreational gym class. He became a coach in 2006. He now has the role of Gym Development Manager, which takes in the whole operation of our gymnastics programs. Outside of gymnastics, Tim works as a Myotherapist.
Tim launched a pilot class for children with autism in Term 1 of this year. Coaches were invited to volunteer their time to work on these classes. He also asked senior gymnasts to be part of it and assist with the children. The classes have been so successful that we are moving to make them a permanent part of our program. We have now received a grant from Bayside Council to further the training of our coaches in this area.
Tim's dedication to the development and improvement to our gym programs at HYC is to be commended. He has been working on developing gymnastics programs for males in particular, although in his current role which he started late last year, this is now across all programs in the gym. He sets a great example to all of our coaches, particularly in the way he treats all of our athletes equally and with respect. For the last 2 years he has been the Co-ordinator of our HYC Invitational.
Keep up the great work Tim!
