Essendon Keilor Gymnastics Academy (EKGA) is the March Club of the Month!

EKGA opened its doors in 2006. Since then EKGA has grown to have over 1300 gymnasts and 50 coaches in 2019.

EKGA caters for children from crawlers through to level 10 competitive gymnasts and everything in between. EKGA has three key goals - they make sure that in every class or program they Teach Gymnastics, Make it Fun and Keep the kids safe.
EKGA has a popular KinderGym program comprised of KinderGym Classes, Playnastics and Twirling tumblers, all three of which had record numbers in 2018.

The Gymstar program has been a great success over the years and gives girls the chance to compete, whilst only training a few hours a week. These gymnasts are treated with the same respect and dignity as all of our competitive MAG and WAG gymnasts.

Their most innovative inclusive program is our BlindGym program. In 2011 EKGA developed a program which allowed Blind and Vision impaired children to experience the joy of gymnastics. Since then they have been able to roll the program out to other clubs through Blindsports Victoria.

EKGA contributes to the local community by hosting school groups from the area, as well as travelling out to schools. They are also the major sponsor for several local kindergartens in the area.

In terms of Child Protection, all EKGA staff must have completed the GV childsafe course before commencing work at EKGA. All staff also do an annual update in child protection each January.

In the last 6 months, EKGA have:
Had a WAG regional champion team for level 3,4 and 5,
WAG Level 5 limited Victorian Champion team
Two coaches completed FIG 2 courses
Two MAG athletes selected for the new MAG state development squads (one for green one for gold)
Hosted 4-day coach education series, attended by coaches from across Victoria
Started a successful NinjaZone program, attracting 50 new boys to the sport of gymnastics in less than a month

Keep up the great work EKGA!
