Victorian Government Restriction Update

While it was everyone’s wish, the challenges of the covid virus did not disappear with the start of a new year.
Please note the latest Victorian Government updates and what it means for gymnastics.
On Sunday 3 January, the Victorian Government updated the Restricted Activity Directions (RAD’s) which came into effect that evening.
A summary of the updated guidelines as they impact gymnastics clubs is included below:
Indoor physical recreation and community sport:
- Permitted for all ages
The lesser of:
- A density quotient of 1 per 4sqm for each space, or
- Classes limited to 50 people (excluding anyone necessary for running the class).
- Record keeping is required and venues with capacity of greater than 500 patrons must publish a COVIDSafe Plan online.

On Thursday 31 December 2020, the Victorian Government announced some adjustments to their COVIDSafe Summer restrictions which came into effect that evening. You can read the restrictions here
In line with these restrictions face masks will once again need to be worn inside for anyone over the age of 12 years unless they are participating in exercise that leaves them out of breath or puffing.
Coaches and other attendees in the gym may remove their face mask if they are communicating with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing, in situations where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication.
