Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Development Squad

The first Development Squad Camp held for Level 5 & 6 Athletes and coaches as part of the new
Victorian High Performance plan held in February 2019.
The Gymnastics Victoria (GV) Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Development Squad provides opportunities for athletes and coaches throughout Victoria to participate in the athlete and coach high performance WAG pathway.
Eligibility to be invited to participate in the WAG Development squad is based on athlete performance at competitions, and for some levels, on physical testing. Athletes (through competition results) and coaches (through athlete invitation or as an observer) can attend clinics across the year to enhance their gymnastics skills and knowledge. Guest presenters and master coaches will also be invited to present at the development squad clinics.
This key initiative of the new Victorian High Performance plan will be offered for selected athletes at the following levels:
- Level 5 & 6 (Division 1)
- Level 7 & 8
- Level 9, 10, Future, Junior and Senior International.

Coach attendance is a key component of the WAG Development squads. Coaches of athletes selected to be part of the development squads are required to attend each clinic. Other Victorian WAG coaches are encouraged to attend the clinics and any accompanying coach education sessions as an observer.
